Principal Data Engineer

We are currently recruiting an experienced Principal Data Engineer to engage with capability leads, product owners, and data engineers to design, build, and run high-performing data solutions within an Azure data platform.  This role represents the Pinnacle of Data Engineering, bringing expertise in data leadership, strategy, technology, solutions, collaboration and thought leadership!

This role will:

• Be responsible for creating or guiding the low-level design of data solutions, taking high level solution architecture artefacts and translating them into workable designs and work packages.
• Develop high complexity, secure, governed, high quality, efficient data pipelines from a variety of on and off premise, internal and external data sources.
• Lead from the front, engage with all manners of stakeholders, coach mentor and train others and be the peak of technical knowledge and expertise with the freedom to innovate and push boundaries.

Skills Required:

• 10 years+ experience within Data Engineering. 
• Comfortable and interested to operate at all levels, hands on and strategic.
• Experience of carrying out data engineering design and build activities using agile working practices.
• Data Factory/Synapse Workspace – for building data pipelines or synapse analytics pipelines
• Expert in Databricks solutions, Data Lake Gen2, Synapse Warehouse/Analytics, Azure Active Directory, CICD pipelines, Data Architecture, Azure Cloud.  Knowledge and experience of Metadata would be ideal.
• Financial Services or Insurance experience highly preferred due to high volumes of data.
